With site flanked by a 14-storey building and 7-storey office, the design of this new central library has to not only provide a smart solution of two different functions, classroom and library, but also minimize impacts over two existing buildings. The solution is to place a lower portion of building adjacent to the existing 20-storey building and locate a service core, with smaller profile, near the 7-storey office. The lower levels have to separate circulations from those using the classrooms and the library, as well as connecting the two existing buildings.
